Giving Back
Giving back has been part of Rabbit Soaps from the beginning.
Soap is such an ordinary part of everyday life, but having something handmade, beautiful and made with care can offer a small bit of comfort when someone is going through a difficult time. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to use Rabbit Soaps to support people and organizations throughout my community.
To date, I’ve donated approximately 400 bars of handmade soap, and I hope that number continues to grow.
Lathered in Love
Lathered in Love began as a simple idea: use something I already love making to help someone else.
Through this initiative, soaps are donated to local organizations supporting women, families and individuals in our community. Over the years, Rabbit Soaps has supported organizations including Sooke Transition House, Victoria Cool Aid Society, New Roads Therapeutic Recovery Community, Mamas for Mamas, Victoria Women’s Transition House and The Cridge Centre for the Family.
I’ve also been fortunate to contribute soap to community events and fundraisers, including the Goddess Run.
There isn’t a complicated philosophy behind it. If I have the ability to make something that might brighten someone’s day, provide a little dignity or simply remind someone that another person was thinking about them, I want to do it.

The Sooke Transition House Society (STHS) provides emergency programs and services to women and their children who are in crisis resulting from violence.

For more than 50 years, Cool Aid has been connecting people in need with the necessities to live healthier, happier lives. From emergency shelter and permanent housing to primary health care and nutritious meals, Cool Aid offers life-changing services to thousands of people in the capital region each year.

New Roads is a long-term residential treatment facility that serves adults who live with acute and chronic substance use issues.

We proudly contributed soaps to “Mamas for Mamas.”
Mamas for Mamas is a specialized poverty relief agency and an all-inclusive community for mothers and caregivers. We envision a future where no mama or child is left behind.

In Memory of My Mom
One donation will always be especially close to my heart.
My mom was a hospice nurse for 35 years. Caring for people and their families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives was an enormous part of who she was.
In her memory, I donated 300 bars of handmade soap to Victoria Hospice.
It was my way of honouring her life and the work she devoted so much of herself to. Of all the soap I’ve made and given away over the years, this donation will always mean something different to me.

Hope Soap
In April 2020, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Cancer has a way of dividing your life into a before and an after. Years later, I found myself wanting to take something from that experience and turn it into something kind for someone else.
That became Hope Soap.
Hope Soap is a gentle, handmade bar created specifically to be given to people going through cancer treatment. It is never sold. There is no purchase required and no expectation attached to it.
If you or someone you love is undergoing cancer treatment, I would be honoured to send them a bar.
Hope Soap isn’t intended to treat cancer or the effects of treatment, and I would never pretend that a bar of soap can make something this difficult easier. It is simply a small gesture from someone who has been there.
Sometimes there isn’t anything profound to say. Sometimes you just want another person to know that someone is thinking about them.
That is what Hope Soap is for.
If Hope Soap brings even a moment of comfort to one person, then it has served its purpose.
